What types of items can I store with Clutter?
Clutter can handle most common household items for both moving and storage, from a few boxes to an entire fully furnished home. This includes furniture, appliances, artwork, electronics, and much more.
However, for the safety of our team members and the integrity of your belongings and our facilities, there are specific items that we cannot move or store. It's important to note that some items are allowed for moving but not for long-term storage.
Prohibited Items for Both Moving and Storage
The following items cannot be handled by Clutter at any time:
- Hazardous Materials: Flammable, combustible, toxic, or explosive materials (e.g., gasoline, propane tanks, ammunition, asbestos, biological waste, firearms).
- Perishable & Infested Items: Food, perishables, or any items showing signs of mold, insects, or other infestations.
- Illegal Substances: Illegal or controlled substances.
- Living or Deceased Things: Live animals, taxidermy, or human remains.
- Large & Complex Items: Pool tables, grandfather clocks, mechanical furniture that has not been professionally disassembled (e.g., Sleep Number beds).
- Heavy & Bulky Items: Any items our team cannot safely transport, or any item that weighs over 300 lbs.
- Specific Vehicles: Boats, cars, riding lawn mowers, or anything with an engine.
Items Allowed for Moving, but Not for Storage
Some items are safe to move but cannot be stored in our facilities. This is to ensure a clean, safe, and regulated environment for everyone's belongings.
- Liquids: Liquids of any kind, including cosmetics, toiletries, and cleaning products.
- Live Plants: Live plants, which require water and sunlight.
- Used Tires: Used tires.
- Items with Odors: Items that emit smells or fumes.
Special item guidelines:
- Pianos: We can move and/or store upright pianos only, as long as there are no stairs present. We do not handle grand or baby grand pianos for safety reasons. Upright pianos are securely wrapped but are not transported in wooden crates.
- Safety Clause: Clutter reserves the right to refuse service and may leave any location that presents unsafe or unsanitary conditions.
